Steam Deck is now available - or, at the least some people who managed to get hold of it. Due to the constant shortage of chips, it's difficult to get new technology in your hands at the moment. Prices for GPUs are on the high, and PlayStation 5 consoles are being snatched up while there's a Steam Deck that's not yet available. Steam Deck is yet to become the envy of the many.
But, Valve has been making sure that they keep their customers and viewers curious about the development of their device. In particular, they've provided a list of games that are compatible with Steam Deck. Steam Deck. Steam Deck Steam Deck isn't necessarily a supercomputer, but it's strong enough to play modern games. They've recently introduced Path of Exile to that ever-growing collection of games that can be played immediately through Steam Deck's application But is it enough to allow players to earn PoE currency without kickbacks?
The Handheld Experience
Path of Exile features the common fantasy tropes in which you have the option of choosing between seven classes, which include Witch, Ranger, and Templar Before setting out to create your own skill tree and explore the vast realm of Wraeclast. The free role-playing game filled with scary dungeons and spells and dungeons is adored by millions around the world. If Valve was looking to get the entire population of gamers to their ranks, they needed to make taking part in Path of Exile and farming PoE currency an enjoyable experience. In the end, fighting the living and undead enemies such as Spectral Corsairs and Mage Mercenaries is already difficult enough and tiring, so why would they make it for the player any more challenging?
Presently, Path of Exile is available for Mac and Windows as well as consoles such as Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Xbox One and PlayStation 4. There's no word on the date Grinding Gear Games is going to be able to make the leap onto PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, however, we anticipate that it will happen in the near future. If we're going to include the Steam Deck, it'll be the first handheld console to will bring Path of Exile compatibility - in the event that everything goes according to plan.
A rough start
At first, it was concluded the Steam Deck players wouldn't get the most enjoyment in playing Path of Exile. The handheld device has many issues with its compatibility with the Path of Exile "gameplay."
In the beginning, certain functions will not be available with standard controller settings. If you're planning to type something in chat, you'll need to use a touchscreen, the virtual keyboard, or the community configuration.
Another issue Steam Deck gamers would face is that the game needs manual configuration to adjust the graphic settings so that it performs optimally on handhelds. Steam Deck Steam Deck will sometimes show mouse, keyboard as well as Steam Deck controller icons if they do not.
Not to be forgotten, typing any type of text on Path of Exile with the Steam Deck will require manually activating the keyboard on the screen which is it is. Therefore rather than obtaining the status of Verified at the Steam Deck website, Path of Exile merely is given a Playable rating because of the list of issues players have to deal with.
To summarize, Path of Exile will technically work with Steam Deck, but its keyboard issues and lack of controller support may annoy many new players and the enjoyment could be lost. There are always a few veteran players willing to solve these problems as long as they can play their preferred online ARPG in a portable way but not everyone will want to put in a similar effort.
GGG Announces Controller Support
In contrast to its closest competitor (Diablo 3), Path of Exile did not have controller capabilities on the PC version. PoE is available to console gamers, however, what happens to PC players who simply would like to relax and play with a controller instead of the typical keyboard and mouse configuration? You'll be pleased to know that controller support beta is available with Path of Exile with the 3.17.3 patch. While it's only accessible within this game's Steam version, you'll be able to change to controller mode by accessing the input options panel and changing the input mode into Gamepad (Beta) setting. This controller feature will be available for beta Beta till the 3.18 expansion is released in May.
Grinding Gear Games has asked users who own the Steam Deck to test this feature and see should they encounter any difficulties. The reviews for the controller's support of Steam Deck players have not been overwhelmingly positive. On one hand, the dedicated loot button can be an enormous help, but on the contrary, they are faced with difficulties with UI elements that block large stretches of the screen. Some argue that the absence of auto-casting on LMB and mouse inputs leaves the feeling of a controller beta (in certain ways) an improvement over using the traditional K+M controls that are adapted to trackpads and buttons.
In A Nutshell
Path of Exile is relatively accessible with its Steam Deck, and with the inclusion of controller support, the experience of playing should at least be a bit better than it was previously. The loot button is a great feature to use for PoE Trading, and despite its flaws, Grinding Gear Games plans to enhance the game's functionality going forward.
