I watched it on mute. I didn't even realize initially that they were showing clips from Madden 22 as well as Madden 23. It's similar to Madden and it's not surprising. The game is still struggling to create animations that resemble real football matches. Many of the tackles they showed appear like studio tackles, not real tackles that you'd see in real life.
The branching seemed to be quite occasionally jarring. It seems like they've gone further backwards in the direction of player's movement. It was great in 21 and 22 when it launched however, as we witnessed through patches, they caved into and sped the game up, which really slowed down the game's momentum. It appears that they've continued this trend, and we're now going back to how the game was prior to previous generations. That's a warning.
The air tackles look pretty average. They're not very appealing I think. I was not a fan of the previous WR/DB animations and was thrilled when they almost wiped out the whole thing. They're basically trying to get at them once more and they're the same as they did before. They're too abrupt and also.dont appear like authentic football games. They appear to be two men in a studio, moving at a snail's pace trying to create an animation but aren't quite capturing the authenticity.
I'll test how the game plays when I receive my test code. Certain things will need to be felt, and cannot be seen by just watching. We are aware of what EA intends to achieve with Madden and shouldn't be expecting anything to change drastically. The game will be a distinct mix of sim and arcade and we need to accept that.
I'm not complaining, I just wish that the game had better animation. I think the majority of animations aren't very appealing and a lot of the latest ones shown in the trailer are shockingly poor.
A lot of my complaints about the game is the poor animations which result in poor visually pleasing gameplay. A lot of the mechanics have to be adjusted and If the game could just be could be animated better, it would be a huge improvement for the game.
